The liver is one of the body’s largest and most important internal organs. It performs hundreds of different functions and has a central role in processing nutrients, producing essential substances and removing or modifying waste products. Liver health is therefore important for the happiness and health of your pet. Whenever liver tissue becomes damaged there is a release of harmful molecules called free radicals. These free radicals lead to scar tissue forming in the liver, in a process known as cirrhosis. Neutralising the harmful free radicals using antioxidants can help protect the liver from damage, and can allow non-scarred liver tissue to regenerate.
