Digestive system health is important for the happiness and health of all pets. The main function of the intestines is to transport and digest food, absorb nutrients into the bloodstream and remove waste. This delicate balance can be easily upset which could lead to diarrhoea or constipation. One of the consequences that commonly occurs in animals with abnormal stool size or consistency, is a problem with the anal glands. This usually starts with overfull glands, if they have not emptied naturally, but can lead to other issues. Supporting healthy digestion and faecal consistency can help in cases of digestive imbalance. Different fibres behave differently within the digestive tract, so a blend of fibre types provides broader support than relying on a single source. Monitoring your dog or cat's appetite, toileting and general health is important. FIBOR® combines seven soluble, insoluble and fermentable fibre sources, with prebiotic, amino acids and minerals to provide multiple complementary forms of digestive support. Soluble fibres absorb water and form a gel-like material within the intestine. This can help retain water in hard stools while also absorbing excess water from loose stools, supporting more normal faecal consistency. Insoluble fibre helps increase the physical bulk of the stool and supports normal movement of intestinal contents. Fermentable prebiotic fibres provide nourishment for beneficial bacteria within the large intestine which help support digestion. FIBOR® can be used in dogs or cats that require additional fibre supplementation and can be useful both when stools are softer than normal and when they are hard or passed infrequently. Increased fibre in the diet can improve the size and texture of the stool, helping the natural emptying of the anal glands and supporting long term gastrointestinal health.

Many fibre supplements provide only one type of fibre. FIBOR® contains 45% fibre from a blend of seven sources, providing a combination of soluble, insoluble and prebiotic fibres. • Kiwifruit powder - provides a mixture of soluble and insoluble fibre, together with naturally occurring nutrients. In FIBOR®, kiwifruit powder forms part of the combined fibre blend that supports normal digestion, stool consistency and intestinal movement. • Psyllium seed husk - is a highly water-absorptive, gel-forming fibre that can help retain moisture in hard stools while also absorbing excess water and supporting normal consistency in loose stools. • Sugar beet fibre - contains both fermentable and less-fermentable components and contributes to stool bulk while also providing support for good bacteria within the large intestine. • Coarse wheat bran - an insoluble fibre source that increases faecal bulk and supports normal movement through the large intestine. • Inulin - a fermentable prebiotic fibre that provides nourishment for beneficial intestinal bacteria. • Beta-glucans - naturally derived fibres that support the intestinal environment and normal interaction between the digestive and immune systems. • Mannan oligosaccharides - prebiotic fibres that help support a healthy population of intestinal bacteria. • L-Threonine and L-Arginine - amino acids involved in the production of protective mucus layer lining the intestine. These amino acids provide additional nutritional support for intestinal and immune function. • Iron and zinc - provide additional nutritional support when giving high fibre diet. FIBOR® has a tasty pork liver flavouring, making it highly palatable for dogs and cats. The pellets can be mixed directly, or crushed and mixed through your dog or cat’s normal food.

Alongside additional fibre in the diet, your vet may recommend other supplements, prescription diets or medications to help manage your pets gastrointestinal health. Ensuring adequate water intake, maintaining a consistent diet and providing regular exercise can help. If your pet is struggling with anal gland issues, your vet (or vet nurse) may help empty the anal glands at certain times, to ensure they don't become blocked or infected. If your dog has very severe anal gland issues, your vet may even recommend surgery.

Mix FIBOR® pellets with your pet’s food directly or crushed, once daily using the scoop provided. One heaped scoop contains approximately 10g. Make sure fresh water is always available.
