Information on Digestive Health

Digestive system health is important for the happiness and health of all pets. Monitoring your dog or cat's appetite, toileting and general health is crucial. We would always recommend speaking to your vet practice, for further advice, if you notice: Vomiting Soft faeces Increased frequency of passing faeces Straining when passing faeces Hard/dry faeces Blood and/or mucous in the faeces Changes to faeces colour Weight loss Changes to appetite Lethargy Bloating, flatulence Blocked anal glands - chewing/licking around their back end, hind legs/feet; dragging or "scooting" their back and along the floor; unpleasant "fishy" odour and general signs of discomfort in the area, or when passing faeces

How can FIBOR® support my pet?

FIBOR® can be used in dogs or cats that require additional fibre supplementation. Increased fibre in the diet can improve the size and texture of the stool, helping the natural emptying of the anal glands and supporting long term gastrointestinal health.

Why does my vet recommend FIBOR®?

Maintaining optimum gut health can be challenging and some dogs may require additional support, to encourage the natural emptying of their anal glands. Your vet will suggest a fibre supplement, if they feel your dog or cat could benefit from additional fibre in their diet. There are lots of different supplements available, which can make choosing one that is right for you and your pet difficult. At VetPlus, we believe animals deserve the best. This is why we only ever produce products from the best possible ingredients, in our state of the art UK facility.

How does FIBOR®  taste?

FIBOR® has a tasty pork liver flavouring, making it highly palatable.

What else can help?

Alongside additional fibre in the diet, your vet may recommend other supplements, prescription diets or medications to help manage your pets gastrointestinal health. If your pet is struggling with anal gland issues, your vet (or vet nurse) may help empty the anal glands at certain times, to ensure they don't become blocked or infected. If your dog has very severe anal gland issues, your vet may even recommend surgery.
