COATEX® Medicated Shampoo
COATEX® Medicated Shampoo is a gentle veterinary shampoo for dogs to support skin health.

COATEX®
Medicated Shampoo
COATEX® Medicated Shampoo is designed to be used as an additional support for skin health in dogs, with antibacterial, antifungal and a deep cleansing action.
The shampoo is gentle enough for routine use with a special veterinary formulation containing chloroxylenol, sodium thiosulphate and salicylic acid to help support skin health and keep the surface of the skin clean. The deep cleansing formula removes scales and crusts while deodorising your pet's coat.
COATEX® Medicated Shampoo is pH neutral, non-drying to the coat and produces a visible lather, making it easy to see where it has been applied. It requires a short contact time of 5-10 minutes on the coat, before rinsing fully.
Pack Size: COATEX® Medicated Shampoo is available in 250ml and 500ml bottles for dogs. The product is not recommended for cats.
Information on Skin Health
The skin is the biggest and one of the most complex organs in the body, acting as a protective outer barrier between the animal and its environment. Sometimes skin can become irritated by environmental allergies, adverse food reactions, bacterial infection, fleas, yeast overgrowth or abnormal immune responses. This can lead to itching, redness, hair loss, ear problems, dull coat, dry skin or dandruff. Secondary bacterial and yeast overgrowth commonly develops when skin is already irritated or damaged. This can make itching, redness, odour and scaling worse, even when another underlying condition was the original cause. If you notice changes to your pet’s skin health, including itching, licking, redness, hair loss and shaking the ears, we recommend talking to your veterinarian.
How can COATEX® Medicated Shampoo support my pet?
COATEX® Medicated Shampoo contains key ingredients that can support skin health, whilst keeping the surface of the skin clean in dogs. The shampoo helps removes excess skin oils, scales, crusts, loose hairs and has antibacterial and antifungal properties to help control skin problems. Removing this surface build-up helps create a cleaner skin environment and allows other prescribed topical treatments to reach the skin more effectively.
Why does my vet recommend COATEX® Medicated Shampoo ?
Medicated dog shampoos differ in their active ingredients, intended purpose, contact time and effects on dry, greasy or infected skin. COATEX® Medicated Shampoo is pH neutral and formulated to be non-drying to the dog’s coat, this makes it suitable for repeated use when an ongoing bathing programme has been recommended by your veterinarian. The shampoo produces a generous lather, helping you see where it has been applied which helps prevent over exposure and irritation that can occur with other shampoos. COATEX® Medicated Shampoo combines three key ingredients: • Chloroxylenol - an antiseptic cleansing ingredient with antimicrobial properties and helps keep the surface of the skin clean and provides support where excessive bacterial or fungal growth is contributing to poor skin condition. • Sodium thiosulphate - a sulfur-containing ingredient included as part of the shampoo’s cleansing and antifungal-support formulation to support dogs with scaling, oiliness and microbial overgrowth. • Salicylic acid - helps loosen and remove excess scale and crusts which can be particularly useful when skin is dry, flaky, greasy or scaly. Removing excessive scale can also improve contact between the skin and other topical ingredients. COATEX® Medicated Shampoo may be recommended alongside other options, such as diet changes, supplements and medications, to help provide full support for your pet’s skin and coat. There are lots of different shampoos available, however it is important to trust your veterinary surgeon’s advice on which one is right for your pet and why. At VetPlus, animals deserve the best. This is why we always produce the best products for the pet, from the best possible ingredients in our state-of-the-art UK facility. As a result, COATEX® Medicated Shampoo is used by vets in many countries globally.
What else can help?
Your vet will be able to recommend the appropriate support for your pet. Every pet is different, so it is important to find the right approach for the individual. This may involve diet changes, topical products, certain medications and other supportive care.
