Information on Bladder Health

The lower urinary tract includes the bladder and urethra and the inner surface of the bladder is lined by specialised cells called the urothelium. A protective layer containing glycosaminoglycans helps separate these cells from the urine. Your dog cannot tell you if they have trouble when they urinate. We would always recommend speaking to your veterinarian for further advice, if you notice: • Blood in your dog's urine • Your dog appears to have difficulty when urinating • Begins urinating small amounts in unusual locations • Cloudy or unusually strong-smelling urine • Urinating inside the house

How can CANINE CYSTAID® help my pet?

CANINE CYSTAID® contains N-Acetyl D-Glucosamine, which helps to support bladder health by maintaining the glycosaminoglycan layer, a structure that lines and protects the bladder mucosa.

Why does my vet recommend CANINE CYSTAID®?

CANINE CYSTAID® contains a key ingredient to support bladder wall health. Your vet may recommend it, alongside other options such as pharmaceuticals or diet changes, to help provide full support for your dog. N-Acetyl D-Glucosamine is a naturally occurring amino sugar and a component used in the formation of glycosaminoglycans. Glycosaminoglycans form part of the protective layer covering the bladder’s urothelium. This layer helps support the bladder cells beneath it and limits their direct exposure to substances within the urine. There are lots of different supplements available, however it is important to trust your veterinary surgeon’s advice on which one is right for your pet and why. At VetPlus, animals deserve the best. This is why we always produce the best products for the pet, from the best possible ingredients in our state-of-the-art UK facility. As a result, CYSTAID® is used by vets in many countries globally.

How does CANINE CYSTAID®  taste?

CANINE CYSTAID® capsules have no added flavouring. They can be given whole or opened up and the powder inside mixed in with food.

What else can help?

Your vet will be able to recommend the appropriate support for your dog. This may involve medication, increased water intake, diet changes, surgery and other supportive care.

How to give CANINE CYSTAID®

Capsules can be opened and mixed with food or given whole. • Initially: Give 1 capsule per 10kg body weight per day. • Maintenance: 1 capsule per 10kg body weight every other day. Your veterinary surgeon may adjust the amount or duration according to your dog’s situation and response.
